MULCH
What is Mulch?  It is a material that is placed on top of the soil in your garden beds.  It looks beautiful, adds to curb appeal, and is very beneficial to your plants.  It suppresses weeds, keeps the soil moist, and prevents erosion.

Mulch is the workaholic's dream.  It helps by suppressing weeds so little weeding needs to be done, and the busy gardener can spend less time on weeding and more time on enjoying.

Mulch is an environment helper.  It helps the environment by keeping the soil moist, reducing the need to water often, saving on the water supply.

Mulch enriches your soil and during harsh weather keeps it from washing away.

There are all types of material you can use for mulch.  From a beautiful hemlock, red cedar, and pine to organic material like, newspaper, hay, and grass clippings.  Wolf Hill's Mulch is natural, not harmful to the environment.  We offer a Dark Pine & Compost Mix performance mulch, which is a finely ground mulch fortified with compost!
If you are putting mulch down for the first time, make sure your garden beds are clean.   Click on "Prepare Your Garden Beds Now" for more details in preparing your beds.  After you have prepared your bed(s) add approximately 2" to 4" of mulch to your beds.  Keeping the mulch far enough away from shrub, tree trunks, and perennial sprouts.
If your garden beds have mulch from last season, be sure to remove this old packed down mulch before adding fresh mulch.  Click on "Prepare Your Garden Beds Now" for more details in preparing your beds.

Keep in mind, it is not good to keep building mulch up around the trunks of trees.  It simply will rot the bark and the canopy of the tree won't get larger.  Pull old mulch away from the trunk and keep the fresh mulch approximately 6" away from the trunk.
